Sun and heat safety - what should I know?
A beach festival in Cabo in September means full sun and high temperatures. Heat-related illness is the most common issue at outdoor festivals and is entirely preventable:
- Hydrate constantly — drink water throughout the day even when you don't feel thirsty
- Apply and reapply sunscreen — SPF 50 minimum, every 90 minutes
- Wear a hat and sunglasses and take shade breaks, especially between 11 AM and 3 PM
- Pace your alcohol intake — alcohol accelerates dehydration significantly
- Know the signs of heat exhaustion: heavy sweating, weakness, pale or cool skin, nausea, dizziness — alert staff immediately
